What is PSTN?

The Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) is the traditional analog telephone system that has been in use for decades. It comprises copper wires and circuit-switched technology to transmit voice calls.

Why is PSTN Being Phased Out?

The PSTN Switch-Off

Many countries, including the UK, have announced plans to phase out PSTN services. In the UK, Openreach, a subsidiary of BT Group, plans to switch off PSTN services by 2025. This means that traditional landline services relying on copper wires will no longer be available.
